So do we want to talk about how we felt about the season first or how we felt about the finale first?

I'm going to start with the finale. I think I enjoyed this finale.

I did. I'm just bare with me on this. The season as a whole, I think,

is different from the first season in the sense that there's the straight line narrative.

Right? Last season, they take us to what Jubilee was up to and what Storm and Fordred were up to.

This season, it's like Rogue, Nightcrawler, Gambit. Those are our main characters.

We're rolling with them. I think this finale was coming together all of that, especially with

Rogue going in and thinking she sacrificed herself to save Gambit, but eventually,

it was like, No, Nightcrawler went and took that for her. I feel like if you're going to make

a apocalypse, the big bag, actually make him the big bag. How the top five apocalypse at the end.

And so that was a little disappointing in the sense of, I see the X-Men take out

apocalypse in this new show, in this world. But other than that, I think it was a

service for that. I thought cable was going crazy. I love, I kind of feel like if you cable,

your parents are like, hey, calm down. You're like, no, I'm going to just beat the hell out of you.

That's kind of crazy. But I thought it was a good finale. This show has been able to

really nail the quirkiness and the dramatic nature of the X-Men. The X-Men's got a lot of

drama to it. It's the soap opera element of the relationships between the cast.

And these characters are odd. They're odd and they're weird. And their portion of the Marvel

world is odd and weird. A couple of times characters from outside the X-Men world show up in this,

like Captain America shows up, like what else shows up? They seem so normal when talking to a guy

with that, you know, has claws coming out of his hands, you know, and looks like a wolf, right?

And so I think that's the thing that X-Men 97 gets right. And it gets it so right that is

difficult not to love the show. Whether or not the narrative of the show is operating on like 100,

or whether or not it's operating on 85, you feel at least I feel immersed into the world of the

X-Men in a way that no other property has ever been able to quite give you. And that is even if you

read, even if you watch episode and you didn't like it, it feels more like a comic that you didn't

like than a television show that you didn't like. The comic that you didn't like, I saw whatever,

they'll make it back up in the next one. Maybe the last panel gets you or something like that. But

a TV show feels like a failed dramatic endeavor. I say I'll have to say that I like the finale.

I thought using Gambit in this was smart. Although I would say that like there wasn't as much

connective tissue from the death of Gambit in the first season to the return of Gambit. The show

is so scatter shot that it has problems sometimes building on even like really dramatic things that

happened before. Because it's almost like new episode. Now we find the danger room. Now we're doing

this. Now we're doing that. In that way, it does feel like a comic book and comic books sometimes

are like bad at that too. I think the, this is an uneven season to me the perfect, the perfect

version of X-Men 97 was the weapon X episode where I was like there's everything I love where you

throw Wolverine, but then a bunch of weird characters together and there's the brood and

more relationship with Wolverine. I was like, all right, this is a 10 out of 10 episode. This is

why I love the X-Men. And when I got to the finale, I'm going to be real, which are the celestial

bullshit, the fucking road getting powers, Gambit, like being apocalypse and then looking like him,

I'm like, all right, this is where you get a little loss in the sauce. Where like the Polaris,

the Polaris, Bishop, shit, all season loved. Yeah, like I thought it was great. It was just

sometimes I was like, I'm going to be, I don't know if the apocalypse shit worked this season.

Like whenever they went back to he jumped in apocalypse, how's it like? I don't know.

No, it was strong in the beginning in the beginning. Really beginning when Magneto was there. Yeah,

when he killed, when he killed Magneto, I was like, I, this is, I think that's really, really,

really strong start to this season and a pretty solid middle. I really liked the finale, honestly,

probably because I think the last two episodes, Dead Man's Hand and this featured my goat,

and they had that sequence where he's like, bamfing and like you first person pop up,

with certain characters in the X-Men, everybody gets that moment and again, Nightcrawler being one of

my favorites. Him having several great moments in the finale of this is like kind of perfect to

me. I loved it that a little bit more than everything else. I think the way that this ends,

it doesn't really, not that I'm looking for too much of a setup because we have the mystique

intrigue of what could be coming around the corner, but it ends very, very quickly after like the

resolution of like, okay, well, the sacrifice plays but now made by Nightcrawler. I think overall,

this is pretty good, but again, not as strong as the first season. I mean, I thought that

while it might not have been as strong as the first season, to me, this season was proof positive

that this show was real and can be around for a long time. Oh, sure. Because it has something to

say and a very distinct way of saying it. Gambit coming back maybe wasn't as emotionally resonant,

to me. Once again, it's just like the comics. Somebody goes, they move on pretty quickly, but the

mag the drama, the dramatic weight, the anguish of Professor X and Magneto's relationship and

Magneto being killed by apocalypse was such a gigantic thing that worked so well to me.

Insabinur worked really well. All of that stuff worked really well. When he becomes a apocalypse,

you have the same problem that you sometimes have with apocalypse in the comic book, which is

you don't know what to do with apocalypse because apocalypse is so fucking strong like what do you

do with him? He's going to be around forever. You beat him. You put him back in a you you contain

him, whatever the show went through that same thing a little bit for me. It's it was the apoc it's

not that I didn't like I like apocalypse as a character. The the massive failing of apocalypse to

me is the same thing that happens when like a lactose is there where it's like well, galactose

power is to consume worlds. But if he consumes all of earth, the story ends. And apocalypse whole

reason for being as a character is like I'm ushering in a new era where only the strong

survive. But if I do that, that's why age of apocalypse in the comics works because you're like,

okay, they're in a new world where we get to see what happens when apocalypse makes good.

They edited because they thought it was too violent and that's when Todd I saw a statement from the other day

Because comic books don't have the bandwidth that movies do

But that's kind of what we were doing what happened when those directors changed film is what was happening with us and just like
